These inconveniences during adjustment period to new dentures is quite normal and to be expected.
This period of adjustment is necessary for a successful outcome as our Doctor examines the fit and function of your dentures as they work with the natural movements of your jaw. This can take, in extreme cases, as long as 3 months. The length of this period will vary according to your mouth conditions, general state of health and age.
It is our goal to send you home with new dentures that fit you properly. In time and with consistent use, you will find that your dentures will fit comfortably and function well.
Adhesives
Your dentures should be specially designed to fit your mouth. They should look good, feel good, and function well. Sometimes however, due to factors such as loss of bone support or dryness of your mouth, you may need denture adhesives to make your dentures more comfortable and tighter. Adhesives also may aid in the reduction of food traps, plaque, bacteria and help keep your mouth and gums healthy.
Home Care Instructions for Your Dentures
Remove the denture to brush it with your toothpaste. Be sure to support the denture evenly while brushing. You do not want to drop it because it may break. For removal of odor and stains, soak the denture in any of the following solutions, and then brush it again with your toothpaste.

½ vinegar and 1/2 cool tap water for 20 – 30 minutes

2 tablespoons of baking soda and ½ cup tap water for 20 – 30 minutes

Cool tap water and a denture cleaning solution for 15 minutes
Remember physically brushing everyday outside of your mouth is the most important way to keep dentures clean.
